Read the newspaper today and found this article on the purSonic Soundboards. Basically, with their devices in your room, you can listen to music without speakers since the music is coming from the wall of your room. Erm...maybe this can explain better:

purSonic soundboards can be discretely integrated in almost all walls and ceilings and can be reworked with various kinds of surfaces. Thus, for instance, plaster, wallpaper or other surfaces can be used and the result is almost unbelievably perfect sound directly from the wall or ceiling without any sound distortion.

The purSonic soundboards that are just 6-8 mm thick together with the purSonic amplifier system enable a very special experience of music and speech. It is now possible to obtain 3-D acoustics or Dolby Surround without a jumble of cables and visible loudspeakers everywhere. First-class HiFi pleasure by digitally controlled output stages as well as a minimum of feedback characteristics speaks in favour of purSonic.

For example, if you watch the horror movie and there's a bang or something, the wall will shake a bit, or maybe just the soundboards...will it affect the stuffs on the wall? (maybe not, I guess). You need about 5 soundboards in your room to have the feel of the situation in the movie you're watching or the taped concert you're watching. They're still developing the devices and if it works out, there's a possibility that ten years from now, speakers won't sell that well anymore. This is a project jointly developed by Siemens and Puren.
